We live in a world where new things are being created everyday so that we can become less active. We become so accustomed to this way of living, we forget that anything beforehand ever existed. There are small changes that can make a big difference in our life, which can lead to better decisions going forward. Here are some tips from your Portland fitness trainer on how you can become more active in your everyday life.
- Take the stairs. Sure, there’s the escalator and elevator that will get you to your destination much faster, but that doesn’t require much leg work. I have to shake my head when I see an individual waiting for the elevator to get them to the GYM! You were born with legs, put them to use!
- Choose the parking spot in the back of the lot. Ever notice how cars will circle around the parking lot for endless amounts of time, waiting for a spot that’s closer to the entrance of the store, so they don’t have to walk as far? It will take you all but a minute or two more to walk few more feet, and your body will thank you for it.
- Walk, instead of using moving sidewalks in airports. For most of us, we allow a leeway of 2 hours before our flight. So why on earth are we using moving sidewalks to get to our gates faster? Don’t feel inclined to take the easier route just because it’s available. After all, you’ll be sitting on plane for an extended period of time with little to no movement at all.
- Walk, instead of driving to the local store. If there are only a few things you need to pick up, use your legs to get you to the store down the street.
